Luisa María Güell

“Every now and then an artist comes along with the ability to shift the WORLD of MUSIC. That change becomes LEGEND.” Charlie M. Gray

Luisa has dedicated her life to the art of entertainment. From television, movies, and theater to her musical contributions in the studio and on the stage, she has shared her talent on an international level.

The year was 1964 and the beginning of what would become national stardom for Luisa with the release of her song “No tengo edad para amarte”. By the late 60’s Luisa would leave Cuba for a shot at a brighter future in Europe.

Once relocated, Luisa was given the unique opportunity to interpret a song at the International Song Festival in Malaga, Spain. The song just so happened to be written by Spanish Composer Manuel Alejandro (recipient of the 2011 Latin Grammy Trustees Award) who was well known for his Latin Ballads. Subsequently, the International Song Festival yielded Luisa first prize that year.

By 1972, Luisa received the Voz y Canción award in Puerto Rico, and a few years later she earned the Edith Piaf Gold Medal at the Paris Grand Prix de la Chanson.

Luisa’s other accomplishments include a tribute to “the Little Sparrow,” Chansons d’Edith Piaf en Français. She also interpreted José Martí’s children’s classic La Edad de Oro and earned the Company of Women Award.

In 2007, Luisa’s album entitled, “Uno” was nominated for a Latin Grammy award in the category of Best Tango Album. The “Uno” album is one of over 24 albums Guell has released during the span of her career.
