The Story Behind The Music
This piece was born from a simple but powerful idea:
What if folklore isn’t fiction—but interpretation?
While developing A Paranormal Author’s Adventure, CM Gray became fascinated with how different cultures describe similar entities—especially trolls in Scandinavian lore. Massive, ancient, tied to the earth, hidden from sunlight… but always present in the margins of human experience.
The turning point came from a chilling account—an otherwise skeptical individual who described seeing a small, bark-skinned figure standing silently near a fence at 3 a.m., moments after hearing a soft, almost hypnotic lullaby drift through the night.
That moment became the seed.
Between the Firelight & the Unknown was written to live in that exact space—the moment where logic fails, where fear and wonder coexist, and where the human mind reaches for stories to make sense of something it cannot explain.
The firelight represents what we know.
The unknown represents everything else.
And somewhere in between… something is watching.
